How Raloxifene hcl works
Raloxifene hcl binds to estrogen receptors on cells, creating a blockade and causing circulating estrogen to take other routes through your body. It slows down normal postmenopausal bone-thinning and increases bone mineral density (BMD). This results in stronger bones and less risk of fractures. An additional benefit of Evista is that it decreases total and LDL cholesterol levels. In breast and uterine tissues, it acts as an estrogen antagonist.
